SCOTTISH TRANSACTIONAL ANALYSIS CONFERENCE

Integrative therapy: new frontiers in TA theory and practice

Saturday 22nd January 2011
Pollock Halls, Edinburgh
9:30 am - 5:00 pm

Opening Address:
Dr Carol Craig (Centre for Confidence and Well Being)

Closing Address:
Robin Walford (Leeds Psychotherapy Training Institute, MA Psych Ther, TSTA)

Integrating ideas and techniques from different approaches, has been a central element of TA philosophy since the earliest writings of Eric Berne, offering clients a therapeutic experience that draws on a range of potent change processes. Over the past 40 years, TA theorists and practitioners have been at the forefront of the movement toward psychotherapy integration. This conference provides an opportunity to celebrate and reflect on this core element of the TA tradition. What are these different strategies for achieving effective integration? What are the implications for training, supervision and research, of adopting an integrative perspective? Answering these questions in the context of their practice will be of special significance to Transactional Analysts and practitioners from other modalities in the humanistic therapies.

At this conference we will use workshops and presentations to explore some of these meanings in a variety of contexts. While the main focus will be on issues around the role of integration in therapeutic settings, it is intended that the reflective conversations that emerge will also have application in educational and organisational settings and in the private lives of delegates.
